A THIRTEEN-year-old was one of four teenagers arrested following a high-speed police chase in Wirral.
Officers were on routine patrol on Seabank Road in Wallasey at around 1.40am on Thursday when a silver Peugeot 307 failed to stop when requested to do so.
The officers then pursued the vehicle at speeds of up to 70mph for seven minutes, following the car down King Street and Brighton Street and onto Birkenhead Road.
The chase ended when the Peugeot hit a stationary Transit van which was parked close to the junction of Ashville Road and Park Road North. One man inside the van suffered minor cuts and bruises.
A group of males who were in the Peugeot are believed to have run off from the scene of the collision.
Following a search of the area, police arrested four people in Birkenhead Park.
A spokesman for Merseyside Police said: "Four males aged 13, 15 , 16 and 17 years from the Birkenhead area were subsequently arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle. They remain in police custody at this time."
The four teenagers were taken to hospital as a precaution after their arrests, although none are believed to have been seriously injured in the collision.
An investigation into the full circumstances surrounding the incident is ongoing
