TRANMERE Rovers' boss Micky Adams hopes his squad will make it three wins in a row when they face Cambridge at Prenton Park on Friday night.

Their third game in week, the Prenton Park fixture comes days after Max Power sealed Rovers’ place in the FA Cup third with a 2-1 win against Oxford United and set up a home tie against Swansea.

Power also earned a hard-fought victory over Dagenham in League Two action at Victoria Road last Saturday.

During a press conference at Prenton Park this afternoon, Adams said: "It's been a very good week. It's pleasing on both fronts.

"We're delighted to have a crack at a Premier League side in the FA Cup and there's psychological bonus of coming out of the bottom two.

"But there's a long way to go, we've achieved nothing and just want to continue in the form we are in at the moment.

"Psychologically, the wins improved confidence in general and the building is buoyant at the moment. The atmosphere around the place and that's good.

"You want it to be vibrant and you want players to be vibrant and looking forward to the next game, which they certainly are.

"In the past week we've done very little training, but have walked through patterns of play, looking at things we need to improve on.

"It's been a case of rest and recuperate rather than full-blooded training sessions. We're having to be very careful.

"We're all ready for Cambridge on Friday. After that we'll give them a rest and get ready for Boxing Day.

"The atmosphere around night games is generally better."

Looking to Friday night's game - which will be followed by a League Two match against Burton Albion on Boxing Day - Adams said: "We want to make the most of it.

"Traditionally, the last home game before Christmas is, generally, poorly attended, we understand that.

“We want to entertain the fans and send them into Christmas feeling good about their football team.

"Looking at Cambridge, they will be looking for honours in the top seven of the season.

"They are a big, big side with some good players. We're going to have to compete with them physically, particiularly in set pieces, where they are particularly.

"But the emphasis is on us again. While we are mindful of Cambridge's strength, we have to be mindful of our own performance and get that right.

"When you get into a long sequence of not winning games, you have to get the habit back. We understand now what's needed to win games of football.

"Individually we can't do it, we need everybody to be pulling in the right direction. Nobody hands you wins at this level, you have to work as hard as you can to get them.

"The squad is the same that played on Tuesday; there will be no additions to that."

Adams revealed that coach Chris Shuker has also been registered as a player.

He said: "I clapped him off the pitch last summer at Peterborough for his last appearance at Port Vale, thinking that was the end of him, but he's rested his knee and is keen to get back. He looks great in training.

"He has the ability to play whereveranywhere. I think, when he played for Tranmere he's best remembered as a wide player. Whether I use him, or not, is another matter."
