THREE masked stormed a Wirral jewellers in an afternoon raid before fleeing the scene in a getaway car.

Merseyside Police is appealing information following the robbery at Catheralls Diamond Merchants and Jewellers in Wallasey.

The three men entered the Mill Lane store at around 2.10pm on Thursday.

They approached the counter and smashed the display cases, fleeing the shop with a quantity of jewellery.

They were seen getting into a large dark-coloured Ford vehicle.

Several members of staff were working in the shop at the time and have been left extremely upset by what happened, however no-one was injured. 

Detectives have since carried out house-to-house enquiries in Mill Lane and CCTV of the incident is being viewed. 

The offenders are described as being white, of broad build with balacalvas covering their faces.

One was around 5ft 9ins tall and the other two were taller at around 6ft.

None of them appeared to be carrying any weapons, however at least one was carrying a holdall bag.
