DETECTIVES are appealing for information following an altercation between several men in Wallasey late on Tuesday night.

Patrols were called to the junction of Bell Road and Liscard Road shortly after 11pm following reports of a disturbance.

It is believed that a number of young men had arrived at the scene in two silver or grey cars and an altercation had ensued.

When patrols arrived all the people fled the scene, however a short time later a silver Clio was stopped in Hartsmere Road and three men were arrested.

Enquiries are being carried out to trace all the people at the scene of the altercation and detectives are keen to hear from anyone who witnessed anything suspicion in Bell Lane at around this time.

Detective Sergeant Steve Croasdale from Birkenhead CID, said: "There has clearly been some kind of violent incident at this location late last night and we are keen to get to the bottom of it.

"We believe that several young men were involved and, when the police were called, fled the scene in one or two silver or grey cars.

"A car matching this description was stopped by patrols in the surrounding area and three people on board were arrested for drug possession.

"However we believe others may have been involved and possibly been injured so I am appealing for the public’s help in shedding some light on what happened.”

Anyone with information should call CID on 0151 777 2265 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
