Firefighters cut a driver from his car after it crashed into a lamppost in Wallasey in the early hours of Saturday.
Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service were called to the accident in Poulton Road at around 3:30 am.
A 30-year-old man was freed from the vehicle by crews using hydraulic cutting equipment.
He was taken to Arrowe Park Hospital for assessment.
A 25-year-old woman was treated at scene by paramedics for shock.
Appliances from Birkenhead and Upton fire stations attended, along with the service's search and rescue team.
Firefighters were in attendance for around an hour.
