YOUNG patients from Wirral’s specialist Limb Centre have taken part in some Hallowe'en fun over the half-term holiday.

A special Hallowe'en party - including real life owls, snakes and bats for the children to hold and touch - was held for the centre’s young patients, the majority of which have some sort of limb absence or loss.

Christine Coalter, assistant manager of the centre, said: "This spooky event was an opportunity for children and their families to meet with others to help increase confidence and share experiences.

"Confidence building is key to help strong rehabilitation and recovery.

"We currently see around 20 young boys and girls, of various ages ranging from birth to sixteen years, on a regular basis."

The Wirral Limb Centre is a centre of excellence which provides healthcare to over 700 upper and lower limb amputees, including recent ex-military personnel, from Wirral and the surrounding areas of Chester, Warrington, Halton and Crewe.

The service sees around 100 new amputees each year. All stages of prosthetic rehabilitation take place at the centre's in-house therapy gym based at Clatterbridge Hospital.
