WRITERS, poets and performers come together in New Brighton next month as part of a Festival of War Peace Remembrance aimed at showcasing drama, music and dance.

Festival producers Hand in Hand Theatre – who are known for their innovative and award winning productions – have brought together touring companies, schools, local performers and drama groups to put on five days of events performed by more than 100 people at the Floral Pavilion in New Brighton.

The unique event, which runs from October 22 to October 26, is part of a wider project Wirral Remembers 2014 – 2018 and is supported by Heritage Lottery funding and sponsorship from Wallasey Bright Ideas Fund.

Performances for the festival include touring companies from Wales and London and local companies including Past Productions, Livemak Theatre Co , Poem Shed and Neston Players.

Mosslands School, Calday Grange Grammar, New Brighton Primary and Phoenix School of Dance and Drama will also be involved.

As part of their wider project Hand in Hand Theatre have organised an exhibition of artwork poetry and photography and a Wall of Poppies as a backdrop to the performances.

Recently members of the team met with volunteers and local cadets from New Brighton to launch their call-out for volunteers to make poppies.

While they already have more than 200, more are needed to make a truly spectacular backdrop.
