IT really is a dog’s life for one Wirral pet shop worker who celebrates her 10th birthday this weekend.

Great Dane Kody works full time time at Barks Pets and Exotics in Wallasey Village.

When she isn’t helping herself to a treat, 50kg Kody enjoys helping owners Janie Fagan and Kris Barks to clean out the animals and put out the stock – she especially enjoys cleaning out the reptiles and rabbits.

What makes Kody special is that the average lifespan for a Great Dane is just seven years and although nine-year-old Kody has had a couple of operations during her life, she is still going strong.

Kody is celebrating her birthday this weekend by hosting her very own party at Barks Pets and Exotics on Leasowe Road.

Owner Janie said: “Customers will be able to come down and hold the snakes, lizards, rabbits and guinea pigs as well as see all the other wonderful creatures like cold water and tropical fish, parrots, budgies and cockatiels.

“There is also the opportunity to have photos of you and your pets taken by a specialist animal photographer.”

The celebrations start at 10am on Saturday and run all weekend.

Janie added: “Kody is really looking forward to her party and hopes that lots of people come to meet her and join in the fun.”

The celebration weekend takes place at Barks Pets and Exotics, 3-5 Leasowe Road, Wallasey.
