A MAN was found lying unconscious in a Birkenhead street last night.
The man was found on Claughton Road at around 8.55pm on Sunday by an officer on patrol.
He was taken to hospital where he has received treatment for injuries to his head.
Those injuries are not life threatening and his condition is now described as stable.
Officers are due to speak to the man as part of enquiries to establish how he came by his injuries.
The road remains closed between Claughton Road and Bentinck Street while an examination of the area is carried out.
House-to-house inquiries have been conducted and CCTV is being located and reviewed.
