A MERSYSIDE police officer has been charged with several sexual offences following an investigation managed by the Independent Police Complaints Commission.
Constable Christopher Hopkins, 40, was charged with sexual assault on a 14-year-old girl, sexual assault on a woman aged over 16, and sexual assault on a 17-year-old girl.
He was also charged with inciting a teenage girl to engage in sexual activity, and two counts of misconduct in public office.
The investigation began in August, 2013, following a complaint from a member of the public. It has been carried out by Merseyside Police under the direction and control of the IPCC.
Cons Hopkins is currently suspended from duty.
He has been bailed to appear at Preston Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, September 24.
