THERE are just two weeks to go until the 21st Hoylake 10k Coastal fun run and more than 350 people have registered to take part.

The Globe-backed event, taking place on Sunday, September 14 raises funds for a special needs club in the town. It starts outside Hoylake Community Centre in Hoyle Road at 11am.

More than 600 people braved the wind and rain for last year’s event, raising £8,500.

Organisers are confident the same number will sign up this time but so far, 360 have signed up.

The deadline for postal entries is next Friday, September 5, but people can register on the day.

Urging our readers to sign up, Race secretary Carla Williams told the Globe: "It's been a very slow registration process this year, but things are picking up.

"I'm confident that we will have the same number of people taking part as last year.

"The 10k raises so much money for the Wednesday Special Needs Club. Its sensory resource soft play centre depends on everyone who takes part in the run.

"It funds the resource's upkeep and maintenance."
