WIRRAL bookworms are being invited to visit Birkenhead Park's newest green space – its very own outdoor reading room.
The park's visitor centre will feature a selection of books for all ages. Visitors will also be able to download e-book titles, thanks to the free wi-fi which is offered at Birkenhead Park Visitor Centre by Coffee In The Park.
Cllr Chris Meaden, cabinet member for leisure, sport and culture said: "Both our parks and countryside and library services are constantly evolving, and aim to offer residents new services that are tailored to meet their needs.
"The Birkenhead Park Reading Room is a convenient way of encouraging reading and at the same time promoting Birkenhead Park as a visitor attraction.
"The Park is the perfect surrounding for discovering a new book."
Local author Margaret Murphy has donated copies of her new paperback Everyone Lies, written under her pseudonym A.D. Garrett.
She said: "A place to be quiet and reflect, or a springboard to dive into a new adventure. That's the great thing about books, they really can be all things to all men. And women. And kids!
"Whether you're looking for adventure or romance, thrills or chills, I can't imagine anything more perfect than making that choice in the lovely surroundings of a park - and with plenty of coffee and cake close by!”
