A TEA dance will mark the 75th anniversary of Wirral Citizens' Advice Bureau's formation next month.

The afternoon of musical entertainment takes place at the Grosvenor Ballroom in Wallasey on Friday, September 5, starting at 3pm.

A tea dance has been chosen to mark this occasion as it is reminiscent of the entertainment people sought out at the time of the Bureau's creation in 1939.

To this day, many thousands of people attend such events every week up and down the country, enjoying music from the era and dancing the afternoon away.

Providing entertainment is singer Peter Jones, who will play music very much in tune with the era when the Bureau first opened in Wirral.

Those attending are invited to dress in clothes from the era. Alongside the event, the Bureau is selling raffle tickets.

Philip Howley, chair of CAB Trustees, said: "The event will be a really enjoyable afternoon of dancing and music, to celebrate the important wok that Citizens Advice on Wirral has undertaken for the last 75 years.

"As well as singing and dancing, there will be a range of tea and cakes which those attending can enjoy.

"Above all, as well as providing a great afternoon’s entertainment, it will help raise vital funds for the Bureau and help us continue to provide free and impartial advice to the people of Wirral.

"I am particularly pleased that the Mayor & Mayoress of Wirral have taken time out of their busy schedule to formally open the event.

"No one knows when they might have a problem they can't sort out.

"That's why we plan to be here for your children, family and friends.

"But as an independent charity, we can't survive without your help, so please think about supporting this event, having some fun, and ensuring that advice and support remains free to all.”

Tickets for the event, available from any Wirral CAB office, cost £7.50, with all proceeds going to support the CAB.
