A MAN was punched in the face and knocked unconscious during an unprovoked attack outside a Wirral pub.

Detectives have released CCTV of a man wanted in connection with the incident, which took place outside the Claireville in Liscard on Sunday, May 11.

Police were called to a report that a 20-year-old man had been punched in the face.

Detective Inspector Paul Parry said: "This appears to be a completely unprovoked assault on a young man enjoying a night out.

"The victim was knocked unconscious, fracturing his jaw in two separate places.

"Thankfully, he is making a good recovery and we are now working hard to make sure the person responsible is brought to justice.

"As part of our inquiries, we have issued CCTV stills of a man who we believe may have vital information which could help our investigation.

"I would appeal to the man shown in the footage, or anyone who recognises him, to Get in touch with us as soon as possible."
