LAPTOPS, a handbag and wallet were among items stolen during burglaries at two homes in Prenton.

Detectives are appealing for witnesses to the incidents which took place in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Police were initially called to a house on Rydal Avenue to a report of burglary, in which two laptops, an Apple Mac Book and Samsung Note Book, and a wallet were taken between 1am and 7am.

They then received a similar report of burglary at a house on Wirral Way, in which a HP Pro Book 45205 laptop and a handbag were taken during the same time period.

A full investigation into both incidents is underway with detectives checking CCTV from the area in a bid to identify those responsible. Enquiries into both incidents are ongoing.

Detective Constable Chris O’Connor, said: "I would like to reassure the community that we take incidents of this nature very seriously.

"At this stage of our enquiries, we believe the two burglaries were committed by the same person.

"I would appeal to anyone who has any information about either incident to contact police as your information could assist our enquiries.

"I would also appeal to anyone who has been offered a laptop matching any of the above descriptions within the last few days to call us."
