AN award-winning Wirral apprentice is urging companies in Birkenhead to put their top trainees forward for a national award.

Daniel Holland, from Birkenhead, won the Outstanding Achievement by a final year apprentice award in 'best of British manufacturing’ competition, this year sponsored by JAM Recruitment.

He was crowned after beating off stiff competition from apprentices across the country to win a panel of judges over with his determination to seize on the opportunities presented to him during his apprenticeship.

Daniel has been with Airbus for nearly four years and is now a Stress Engineer.

Now, with the awards kicking-off again for the 6th year running and with JAM Recruitment sponsoring the apprentices awards this year, Daniel is urging other outstanding local apprentices to step forward.

He said: "I was delighted to have been recognised as a winner of these awards last year - it has been a real boost to my career and it was great to get industry recognition for my work.

"I encourage all apprentices from the area to enter the awards this year and wish them the best of luck."

John Morris, CEO of JAM Recruitment, says: “Apprentices have a great story to tell and there’s every reason to expect another champion to come from the area.

"Our reigning champion – Daniel Holland - has had a great year and the icing on the cake would be to see him pass the crown on to another local apprentice.”

There are seven different categories to enter, including: success in strategic growth, smart products, health and safety, skills and training, operational excellence, climate and environment, and exporting.

Entries should be made before October 3 at www.eef.org.uk/awards
