AS talks begin about bringing the Giants back to Merseyside - just days after they wowed thousands of people as part of the Memories of August 1914 event - we look back at our favourite photographs of the marionettes, taken by Globe photographer Paul Heaps.
The huge figures - Little Girl Giant, Xolo the dog and Grandma Giant - began the three-day commemoration of World War One on Friday.
About 30,000 people saw one of the characters lying as if asleep ahead of the event from Wednesday, with crowds queuing for more than an hour to see the 25ft marionette at St George’s Hall.
And thousands more watched as the giant trio strolled across the city, taking in sights including the Albert Dock, Queensway Tunnel, the Roman Catholic Cathedral and Newsham Park.
