TRANMERE Rovers take on Bolton Wanderers in a pre-season friendly at Prenton Park tonight.

The match, kick-off 7.30pm, follows their 2-2 draw against Everton at home on Tuesday night.

Goals either side of the break from Steven Naismith and Leon Osman weren't enough to get Everton's pre-season off to a winning start as the Blues were held by a solid Rovers side on a very hot and humid evening with nearly 9,000 attending.

Rovers face York City in the opening game of their League Two season on August 9.

Manager Rovers Edwards has hinted the team that played against Everton may not necessarily be in the opening line-up.

He told Tranmere Player: "The team that was picked against Everton was picked as a reflection of the strongest players since I’ve been here in terms of training and the games.

"Will it be the starting line-up for the York game? It probably won’t be.

"They've all really impressed me. I know what footballers are like, they can use disappointment the wrong way but hopefully the lads who came on weren’t too disappointed they didn’t start – they certainly didn’t look it.

"I've got plenty of time for players who aren’t in the team but are hungry and will work hard, I haven't got a lot of time for players who are left out and sulk.

"They're no good to the football club. I won’t be bringing players to the Club who sulk if they don’t play."
