STAFF and pupils at a Wirral primary school dressed up in Edwardian costumes as part of celebrations marking its centenary.
Devonshire Park Primary School opened 100 years ago this year and a number of Edwardian-themed events have taken place.
Among them was a special assembly. Pupils also interviewed ex-staff and governors, recording their memories of the school’s history for a ‘living record’, to be held as a learning resource for future generations.
Pupils also created a banner depicting major events from the century of the school’s existence, with pictures and text sown into its fabric.
Cllr Tony Smith, cabinet member for children and family services, said: "This is a historic occasion for Devonshire Park Primary.
"It is incredible to think the school opened in the year of the outbreak of the First World War.
"The pupils have obviously learned a great deal about the history of those 100 years, and in a way which brings history to life."
Devonshire Park Primary School was opened as Temple Road Council School in January 1914.
