WIRRAL received a major job boost today as the eyes of the world fell on the 143rd staging of the Open Golf Championship in Hoylake.
More than 100 new jobs will be created within the next six months by the Contact Company.
The Birkenhead-based call centre provider today announced major new contracts with supermarket giant Sainsbury's and digital TV service provider You View to provide customer service call handling.
Further announcements regarding additional investments in Wirral are expected in the coming weeks.
The announcement was made by Contact Company CEO and Wirral Chamber of Commerce chair Asif Hamid to a gathering of national and international business leaders visiting Wirral for The Open.
"I am delighted to be able to release details of these latest contracts and the jobs they are going to bring to Wirral," said Mr Hamid.
He added: "It is particularly pleasing to be able to demonstrate the confidence our new clients have in investing in Wirral at a time when the eyes of the world are focused on us during The Open Championship."
Sainsbury's and You View are the latest famous brands to work with the Contact Company whose existing clients include Liverpool FC, the BBC, and River Island.
Leader of Wirral Council, Cllr Phil Davies, said: "One of our priorities in hosting The Open is to be able to demonstrate the compelling business case for companies to locate and invest in Wirral.
"Today's announcement by The Contact Company to our business guests is a perfect endorsement of our strategy.
"I am confident more investments and new jobs will be an important legacy for Wirral hosting the 2014 Open."
Wirral guests at the Open span a range of national and international companies and organisations with a focus on the offshore energy and automotive supply chain sectors.
Businesses represented include Dong Energy Group, Osiris Projects, Solar Consulting Australia, Bentley Motors, McLaren, Jaguar Land Rover, General Motors and Toyota.
