THE exciting build up to the Open Championship has been ruined for one Hoylake trader after they discovered their stock had been stolen during a weekend raid.

Detectives from Wirral CID are appealing for the public's help following the burglary at the Golf Shop on Market Street.

Officers were called to the pop-up shop at around 6am on Monday after the owner discovers burglars had stolen a quantity of sports clothing.

It is believed the thieves forced entry to the store between 6pm on Sunday and 5.45am on Monday.

An investigation into the full circumstances of the break in is underway and detectives are appealing for anyone with information to call police.

Detective Inspector Rachel Wilson said: "The offender has made off with quite a large quantity of clothing from this temporary pop-up shop.

"I would appeal to anyone with information about this incident to call police. In particular if anyone has been offered any sports clothing with Normanton Golf Club printed on it please let us know as you could have really important information for our enquiries.

"If you do have any information, please call Merseyside Police on 0151 777 2265 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.”
