COMMUNITY groups in Wallasey are invited to bid for a share of cash to help fund projects in their area.

Just under £20,000 has been made available by Wallasey Constituency Committee to voluntary, community and faith groups and not for profit organisations.

Bids up to a value of £500 are invited for projects that focus on personal wellbeing, economic wellbeing and neighbourhood wellbeing.

Working within these priority areas, the committee is looking for bids that specifically focus on reducing health inequalities, raising the aspirations of young people and promoting community cohesion.

The closing date for submissions is noon on Monday, August 18. Groups will be required to deliver their projects by October 15 next year.

Wallasey is one of four constituency teams, each representing one of Wirral’s four neighbourhood constituencies, and includes the wards of Moreton West & Saughall Massie, Leasowe & Moreton East, Liscard, New Brighton, Seacombe and Wallasey.

Cllr Rob Gregson, chair of Wallasey Constituency Committee, said: "Members of the committee would like to hear from people who have good ideas that can help alleviate some of the social issues that have been identified as needing support.

"We have organised a series of community ‘drop in’ sessions where people can speak with Wallasey Constituency’s engagement officer, ask questions and seek help filling in the application form.

"We hope to see as many people as possible, even if just to chat about their ideas."
