TRANMERE Rovers’ manager Rob Edwards has signed Kayode Odejayi on a one-year contract today.

The striker's deal comes into effect on July 1, a day before he joins his team mates at Prenton Park for pre-season training.

He began his career at Bristol City before spells at Cheltenham Town, Barnsley and Colchester United took him to Rotherham United.

He spent most of last season on loan at Accrington Stanley where he scored eight times.

The 32-year old has been capped once by Nigeria and has made more than 500 career appearances.

Tranmere manager Rob Edwards said: "I'm really pleased Kayode has agreed to sign for us.

"He's a powerful, aggressive striker who causes defenders lots of problems.

"He's good in the air, has a burst of speed and will give us some real strength in attack.

"And, importantly, he'll bring our squad lots of experience which will be important to us next season."

Kayode is Rob Edwards’ fourth new signing since becoming manager, with the striker joining Michael Ihiekwe, Matt Gill and Eliot Richards at the club.
