Following the death of an 81-year-old woman in a car crash, the case of a motorist accused of causing the accident was heard for the first time at Liverpool Crown Court today.
Pensioner Leslie Jones, of Lee Road, Hoylake, is alleged to have caused the death of Kathleen McNair by driving a Citroen Picasso dangerously on Bridge Road, West Kirby, on July 27.
76-year-old Jones was not present at court and the judge heard that he had been excused from attending because of ill health.
Judge David Aubrey, QC, adjourned the case until September 30 when Jones, who is on bail, is expected to enter his plea.
A date for his trial was fixed to begin on November 26.
