A WIRRAL gym has paid tribute to a boxer who lost his life after fighting in the ring.

Lance Ferguson-Prayogg, who trained at Wallasey’s Twelve Quays Boxing, died after taking part in a fight in Nottingham the previous day.

He collapsed and lost consciousness as he left the ring following his bout with Sheffield’s Shaun White at Saturday’s Fight At The Forum 10 event.

East Midlands Ambulance Service was called just after 5.40pm on Saturday, sending a fast response vehicle and double crewed ambulance to the scene.

It is understood that the dad-one-one, from Liverpool, died on Sunday.

Twelve Quays Boxing is closed until further notice following his death.

Tributes have poured in for the boxer on social media, with the Wallasey club’s Twitter account tweeting: “12 quays gym Wallasey Merseyside will not be the same without our top boxer Lance Prayogg – rest in peace brother.

“RIP to one of our finest boxers Lance Prayogg-Ferguson. We are totally devastated.”

Micky Alan, who trained the boxer – who was ranked sixth in the super middleweight Organised International Boxing Association – took to Facebook to pay his own tributes.

He wrote: “I just want everybody to know that the past 30 hours taught me a lot. And I got what people call the boxing trainers worse nightmare.

“I hope people know that Lance’s partner, daughter and family will need a lot of help no matter how ok they say they are.”

He added: “RIP top boxer Lance.”

On Twitter, professional boxer Ricky Boylan said: “RIP to Lance Prayogg who died after boxing in Nottingham on Friday. The brutal and tragic side to this sport we love.”
