POLICE have made two arrests after a man was found lying in the street in Birkenhead.

Officers were called to Argyle Street at around 12.30am today, Thursday and found a 34-year-old man with injuries to his head and arm.

He was taken to Arrowe Park Hospital for treatment where his injuries are not thought to be serious.

Following a search of the area two men - aged 25 and 26 - were arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent.

They are currently being questioned by police.

A full investigation into the incident is underway and enquiries are ongoing
