A WIRRAL man has appeared in court charged with managing a brothel in a Birkenhead apartment.

James Felix Anthony, of Vyner Close, Prenton, was in the dock at Wirral magistrates on Wednesday where he faced one accusation of running a brothel in East Float Quay, Dock Road between January 1 and August 24 last year.

The 64-year-old – who spoke only to confirm his name, address and date of birth – also faced two charges of controlling prostitution for gain between January 1 2013 and April 30, 2013 and on August 23 last year.

He is said to have “intentionally controlled activities of another person in relation to her prostitution in any part of the world for or in expectation for a gain for yourself”.

Anthony – who not enter a plea - also faces one charge of possessing a small amount of cannabis.

He will next appear at Liverpool Crown Court for a plea and case management hearing on October 15 and remains on conditional bail until that date.
