HIGHWAY engineers are on their way to remove a set of traffic lights from a Wirral road after they were knocked down by what is thought to have been a lorry this afternoon.
The council was contacted by police at around 3pm, following reports that the lights were lying on the carriageway in Argyle Street, at its junction with Hinson Street, Birkenhead.
A spokesman told the Globe that as the lights are not obstructing traffic, there are no plans to close the road while they are taken off the carriageway.
