ARROWE Park Hospital's emergency department has been given a huge vote of confidence by users after being ranked the country's best for patient satisfaction.
NHS England placed Wirral University Teaching Hospital at number one following the latest "Friends and Family Test" results for accident and emergency services.
In a questionnaire survey completed by patients the Arrowe Park emergency department scored a total of 89 – way above the national average of 55 for April.
Jill Galvani, director of nursing and midwifery at the hospital, said: "The Friends and Family Test is an easy way for patients to let us know if we can improve the standards of care we give on a daily basis as it means we are able to listen and act on the feedbacks we get."
The emergency department is one of the busiest across the north west seeing over 92,000 patients each year.
Jill added: “The department recently underwent some extensive remodelling work to help improve the overall patient experience and I’m pleased to say that we are about to embark on phase two in the coming weeks.
"I'm certain these latest Friends and Family Test results reflect out commitment in providing the people of Wirral with a modern, clean environment, combined with a dedicated and hardworking emergency team at all times throughout the year.”
