The search is on to find the owner of a winning Lotto ticket bought in Wirral, who matched five numbers and the bonus ball to scoop £213,119 - but has yet to claim their prize.

The ticket was for the Lotto draw on Saturday, May 24.

Winning numbers were 10, 31, 35, 40, 41, 44 and the bonus ball was 46.

The ticket-holder has until Thursday, November, 20, to claim the cash.

If no-one comes forward with the winning ticket before the claim deadline, then the money, plus all the interest it has generated, will go to help National Lottery-funded projects across the UK.

A Lottery spokesman said: "We're eager to find the mystery ticket-holder and unite them with their winnings - this amazing prize could really make a huge difference to somebody's life.

"We're urging everyone who bought a Lotto ticket in this area to check their old tickets again or look anywhere a missing ticket could be hiding.

"Try checking in the pockets of clothing, in wallets, bags and down the back of the sofa - someone out there could literally be sitting on a fortune! We have the champagne on ice and our fingers crossed that the lucky winner comes forward to claim their win."

To help jog players' memories, sports fans may remember that, although no Wirral or Merseyside-based football clubs were involved, the Championship play-off final took place on the same day as the Lotto draw.

Queens Park Rangers managed to secure their place back in the top flight of English football with a late Bobby Zamora strike to beat Derby County 1-0 at Wembley.

Away from sport, and closer to home, locals may have taken a trip to Liverpool's Royal Court theatre to see a production of Lennon - The Musical.

Anyone who believes they have the winning ticket for any of the National Lottery draws within the 180-day deadline should call the National Lottery Line on 0845 910 0000.
