STAFF at Eastham clinic's walk-in centre have been praised by their local MP following a recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission.

Alison McGovern passed on her congratulations following the inspection, which recognised the high quality services they deliver to Wirral residents.

Alison said:”It is a shining example of the hard work and care delivered by NHS staff and I am proud that this great care is being delivered here in Wirral South.”

Alison also took the opportunity chat to staff at the walk-in centre as well as staff from various other services also based at the clinic.

John Lancaster, director of Operations said: “It’s great for staff to be recognised for what they do well. The walk-in centre team here deliver a great service day in day out providing care and reassurance to local people. It’s great for their dedication and hard work to be recognised."

BIKEATHON

THE 15th Wirral Bikeathon in aid of leukaemia and lymphoma research takes place this Sunday, June 15.

Last year, 1,514 people got on their bikes for the Globe-backed event in Arrowe Country Park, helping to raise £66,000.

The event was first held in 1999 and has gone on to raise £680,000 for the charity.

It is organised entirely by a small group of local volunteers with help on the day from around 100 marshalls and supporters.

ROCK FERRY

A SUMMER fair will be held at St Paul with St Luke’s Church in Old Chester Road, Rock Ferry, on Saturday, June 14, from 11am to12.30pm.

On the day, there will be a number of stalls, as well as refreshments, a raffle and much more. Admission is 20p at the door.

HOYLAKE

SYLVIA Bower will be Hoylake Flower Club’s guest, when it meets on Tuesday, June 17.

The title of her demonstration, during the meeting at Melrose Hall in Hoylake, will be ‘All that Jazz’. It starts at 8pm and the hall will be open from 7.15pm. All the flower arrangements will be raffled at the end of the evening. Visitors are most welcome and the visitor’s fee is £4.

THINGWALL

FOLK rock band Reckless Elbow take to the stage at Thingwall Social Club in Sparks Lane, Thingwall, on Saturday, June 21. The show starts at 9pm, with doors opening at 8pm.

ROYAL Army Service Corps and the Royal Corps of Transport Association Birkenhead branch hold their monthly meetings on the second Tuesday of each month at the TA Centre in Wexford Road, Birkenhead.

A SUMMER fair will be held at Our Lady of Pity Primary School in Rigby Drive on Saturday, June 28 from 12-4pm.

HOYAKE 10K

ENTRIES are now being taken for the 21st annual Hoylake 10K Coastal charity fun run.

Taking place on Sunday, September 14, the Globe-backed event raises funds for a special needs club in the town.

It starts outside Hoylake Community Centre in Hoyle Road at 11am. More than 600 people braved the wind and rain for last year’s event, raising £8,500.
