THE centenary of the Great War has inspired Wirral library staff to host an outdoor celebration in a couple of weeks' time.

Seacombe Library will open up its outdoor areas on Saturday June 14 for a street party which will feature a taste of the food served up during the First and Second World Wars.

Volunteers from the library’s Friends Group will help the celebrations along and local groups including The Alzheimer Society and St Barnado’s will be hosting stalls.

China Spirit will be on hand with a Chinese Dragon and a drum display. There will also be a magic show, and a visit by Terry and his owls from Moonshine Owl Sanctuary.

Free food and drinks will be on offer, as well as a raffle, live music from a trained classical guitarist and a disco with dancing competitions.

For more information, contact Seacombe Library by email at seacombelibrary@wirral.gov.uk or by telephone on 0151 638 4475.

Last year's Teddy Bears Picnic Party attractedover a thousand visitors to the library, with many becoming new library members.
