Free summer shuttle bus aims to cut traffic congestion in New Brighton

First published in News

A FREE shuttle bus will be in operation in New Brighton over summer with the aim of easing traffic congestion in the resort.

It will run from Saturday, June 7, to carry visitors to New Brighton to its busy tourist attractions. It will operate from 11.40am to 5.20pm every Saturday, Sunday, and Bank Holiday, until early September.

The bus will follow a circular route, approximately every 20 minutes from the lifeguard station at Harrison Drive to the Floral Pavilion Theatre with drop off points at key sites including Bubbles World of Play. Passengers can flag the bus down at any point along the route.

Along with the bus, a number of measures are in place to make sure visitors enjoy the resort at its best.

To discourage dog owners from not cleaning up after their pets, the Council’s dog fouling team will be joined by Police Community Support Officers this year, and Fixed Penalty Notices will be issued to dog owners who fail to clear up after their pets.

An extended street cleansing schedule will be in place throughout the season, with bulk waste bins and barbecue bins located at 10 sites including the Dips, Perch Rock access road, Perch Rock Car Park and Marine Promenade.

Wallasey’s Constituency Team has been working with local agencies, voluntary groups, and businesses to ensure that visitors see New Brighton in its best possible light.

The Team is run and managed by the Council as part of a new approach to neighbourhood working, and co-ordinates a multi-pronged approach involving Council staff, Councillors, Police, and local businesses, including, in Wallasey, Neptune Developments Ltd, owners of Marine Point.

The bus has been wholly funded by the Department of Transport through Merseyside’s Local Sustainable Transport Fund and will be operated by Stagecoach.

Looks like the rest of Wallasey will suffer whilst the resources are concentrated in New Brighton, another fine mess.

Ah the good old Labour run Council and Neptune strike again. I know a good idea, Lets build all these shops, casino, cinema and bar and restaurants and have no where for anyone to park. Lets have traffic congestion as well and really make a mess of things.
Solution, park your car 2 miles a way and walk or better still jump on a free bus that takes an hour to get to New Brighton because it's stuck in a traffic jam !

Labour Councillors = Brains are not functioning.

Well I am glad I know who I voted for , someone local !

Doh, if we're not careful, the council will introduce a bus lane along the prom
