TRANMERE Rovers' new manager Rob Edwards has made his first signing in preparation for next season.

Striker Eliot Richards has signed a two-year contract at Prenton Park. The 22-year-old, a former Wales Under-21 international, began his career at Bristol Rovers and made his debut at the age of 18.

He finished last season on loan at Exeter City – where Edwards was assistant manager – and scored five times from 11 starts and six substitute appearances.

Manager Rob Edwards, whose appointment was announced on Tuesday, said: "I'm delighted to have signed Eliot for the club.

"He's a very dangerous player who always looks like he can score goals with either foot.

"He's played and scored in Leagues One and Two and is a quick and bright, forward thinking player.

“He’s someone who we feel we can develop and will become capable of playing at a much higher level.”

Eliot added: "I'm really excited about the opportunity and can't wait for the season to start."

Eliot Richards will be the third player to sign a contract with Tranmere Rovers in the last week after midfielders Jason Koumas and Jake Kirby signed extended contracts with the Club.
