POLICE are appealing for witnesses to a serious road traffic crash in Birkenhead this afternoon.

Officers were called, just after 3pm, to a report that a motorbike and a bus had collided on Beaufort Road at the junction with Ilchester Road. Emergency Services are at the scene, along with incident investigators.

Beaufort Road is now closed from Wallasey Bridge Road. Lincoln Street is also closed and officers are advising drivers to avoid the area until further notice.

An investigation is underway to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.

Anyone who witnessed the collision, or has any information about the incident can call the Matrix Serious and Organised Crime Roads Policing Unit on 0151 777 5747.

steady cyclist says...

a very dangerous road, high speeds and little police enforcement even though its a 30 mph road,had a few near misses there,due to missing white lines and the inability of the council to introduce speed calming,and motorists to stick to the speed limit,just hope nobody is seriously hurt.
