MOTORISTS are being advised to use alternative routes this morning following an earlier head-on collision in Eastham.
Police were called to the A41 New Chester Road in Eastham Village shortly before 8am today, Tuesday, after a smash involving a white Volkswagen Golf and a white Mini.
The accident happened between B5132 Eastham Village Road (South) and B5132 Eastham Village Road (North).
All lanes have now been reopened but traffic heading towards Birkenhead is affected, with residual delays on many of the surrounding routes, including the M53.
A 39-year-old man was removed from the Golf by paramedics with the help of firefighters.
He was taken to Arrowe park Hospital suffering suspected whiplash.
Firefighters also helped paramedics free a 27-year-old man from the Mini, who was also taken to hospital with a 27-year-old female passenger with suspected whiplash.
Firefighters made the vehicles safe and were at the scene for around 40 minutes.
