A WOMAN was threatened at gunpoint by a masked attacker in a terrifying daylight robbery in a south Wirral street.

The 24-year-old woman was walking along Chester Road, in Little Sutton, on the afternoon of May 8 when a man grabbed her by the arm and spun her around.

She had been carrying an envelope full of coins to deposit at the nearby Post Office when the masked offender approached her.

He pointed a pistol at her stomach before demanding she hand over the cash.

After she gave him the envelope, the robber fled towards an alleyway next to the nearby Cheshire Building Society.

Police are now appealing for witnesses to the robbery, which happened between 4.05pm and 4.20pm.

DC Kev Hole said: "The victim was left shaken but thankfully wasn′t harmed. I would urge anyone with information to contact me so that I can progress my enquiries."

The offender was described, clean shaven, of slim build and approximately 5ft 10ins to 6ft.

He was wearing a dark coloured dust mask over his nose and mouth and a dark baseball cap with thin reflective strips down each side.

He was also wearing a dark coloured long sleeve jumper and dark tracksuit bottoms.
