AN APPEAL has been made for information about the last few hours of a young man's life after his body was discovered near a railway line on Monday morning.

The remains of 20-year-old Daniel Christopher Starr were found next to tracks between Neston and Hawarden Bridge railway stations.

Welsh Ambulance Service paramedics attended, but Daniel was pronounced dead at the scene.

British Transport Police detectives are now working with colleagues from North Wales to piece together Daniel's movements since Saturday evening.

Detective Chief Inspector Iain Miller from BTP said: "We are conducting a thorough investigation and are working to establish the full circumstances surrounding Daniel's tragic death.

"We’re eager to talk to any of Daniel's friends or acquaintances, particularly anyone who saw him on Saturday night or since then, as they may be able to help our investigation.

"We know the last time anyone saw Daniel he was seen sitting on the wall outside the Lady Hamilton public house in Neston in the early hours of Sunday morning.

"I would like to emphasise that they are not in any trouble, but that we need to speak to them because they could assist our inquiries in piecing together Daniel's final movements."

Detective Chf Insp Miller added: "We’d like to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time, or who has any information, no matter how insignificant it may seem, so we can build a clearer picture of what took place."

Daniel was 5ft 3in, very slim build, with dark collar length hair, and was wearing a green hooded top, black Vans t-shirt, black jeans and ‘Converse'-type footwear.
