Family say thanks to charity that helped Wirral tot

THE family of a brave Wirral toddler who underwent major surgery before her second birthday hope to give something back to the charity that helped her on her road to recovery.

Bromborough tot Quorra Taplin spent three months wearing a cast after having an operation to correct a dislocated hip she has had since birth.

Her parents were told she would have difficulty learning to walk following the removal of the cast on April 10, with little hope of her taking any steps until after her second birthday.

Despite the limitations placed on Quorra, she fought the odds and has already begun walking – weeks before her birthday on May 19.

Now, Quorra’s parents and grandparents hope to say “thank you” to Ronald McDonald House, who helped the toddler during her recovery at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital.

“We just wanted to give something back,” said Quorra’s granddad, Harry.

“Ronald McDonald House were absolutely fantastic and allowed my daughter April and some of the family to stay there while Quorra was in hospital.”

Harry added: “The cast was on for three months which really set her back on her walking but that came off on the 10th and she just started walking around straight away.”

The family have organised a fundraising night in aid of Ronald McDonald House at Hoylake Rugby Club this Friday, May 16.

“People have really rallied around,” said Harry.

“We started off saying we wanted to raise £500 but we just want to raise as much as we can and say thank you to them for all of their help.

“If we reach £500 Quorra will get her name on the wall at Ronald McDonald House which would be fantastic”
