ARCHITECTURAL improvements at Arrowe Park Hospital have earned praise for their positive public impact and outstanding design.
Its refurbished main entrance was crowned winner of the 'public vote winner of the small projects' category, and commended in the 'community' category at the Manchester Architects Design Awards 2014.
Judges felt the project was a warm and welcoming introduction to the hospital, providing a focal point for hospital users upon arrival.
David Allison, chief exectutive, said: "This trust has so much to be proud of and we want this to be reflected in the environment in which we deliver care.
"It's so important that everyone who comes into contact with our hospitals has a great first impression so they have confidence in the service they receive.
"We worked closely with staff, patients and our design team throughout this development, and the result is a clean, bright and confident environment in which we deliver our care to the people of Wirral and beyond."
Before this latest refurbishment, the main entrance had changed little since the hospital was opened by the Queen in 1982. The last remodelling took place in the late 1990s.
