A WOMAN was assaulted as she walked along a Wallasey road.
Detectives are appealing for information following the incident on Falkland Road on April 29.
Patrols were called to the scene at 10.45pm after reports that a woman had been assaulted by a man.
The 35-year-old woman had been walking along the road when a man ran up and grabbed her.
She resisted and called for help but the man assaulted her before running away in the direction of Liscard Road.
The assault left the woman with minor facial injuries but did not require hospital treatment.
Detectives have launched a full investigation into the incident with CCTV from the area being sought.
The attacker is described as white, in his late 20s and about 5ft 6in tall.
He was wearing a dark coloured coat, with the hood up covering his face and dark coloured jeans.
Detective Constable Jon Head, from Wirral CID, said: "The victim has been left really upset following this incident and I would like to reassure the community that we are working to find the man who did this.
"I would appeal to anyone who was in the area at around the time of the incident and might have seen a man acting suspiciously, to call police. The information you give could be really useful in helping us identify the man and bring him to justice.”
Anyone with information should call detectives in Wirral CID on 0151 777 2265 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
