A PENSIONER who died after a car crash in Meols has been named by police.

Joan Vivian Blackburn, known as Viv to her family and friends, was killed on Saturday, April 26.

The 77-year-old, from Moreton, was a passenger in a Suzuki which collided with a BMW in Birkenhed Road.

She was taken to Arrowe Park Hospital with internal injuries but later passed away.

A police spokesman said: “Patrols were called to Birkenhead Road, at about 11.55am, following a report that a Suzuki Swift and a BMW had been in collision.

“Officers from the Matrix Serious and Organised Crime Roads Policing Unit attended and found a 78-year-old woman, who was a passenger in the Suzuki Swift, with internal injuries.

“Two other women in the Suzuki, including the driver, received minor injuries.

“Another woman who was driving the BMW was unhurt.

“Collision investigators attended the scene and a full investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident has been launched.”
