WIRRAL Council is running a new pilot scheme to encourage more children to play tennis.

The new programme begins after the Easter holidays and offers young people, aged three-to-nine and those aged over ten, the chance to have fun and learn about the sport’s techniques and tactics on specially-designed smaller courts.

All young people need to bring is sports clothing and a drink. Sessions cost £5.50 each, payable in a block of four weeks.

The first will take place in the week commencing April 28.

Participants will have the chance to play in interactive games as well as competitive matches.

All sessions will be run by fully-qualified Lawn Tennis Association coaches.

Sessions for three-to-nine-year olds will take place each weeknight, Monday to Friday, between 4pm and 5pm, or from 5pm to 6pm, at Wirral Tennis and Sports Centre in Bidston.

Sessions for children aged ten and older are from 6pm to 7pm, on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.

For more information and to book a place, call Chris Thelwall on 0151 606 2010.
