A YOUNG football fan showed his love for his club while supporting his local children’s hospice by sitting in every seat at his team’s home ground.

Nine-year-old Aidan Turner, from Prenton, and his dad Dave are attempting to sit in every single one of the 17,000 seats at Prenton Park – the home of their beloved Tranmere Rovers – on April 17.

The father and son team took on the challenge in aid of Claire House Children’s Hospice, with more than £1,000 going towards supporting children and young people with life limiting medical conditions.

It was Devonshire Park Primary School pupil Aidan who came up with the idea having his light bulb moment as he watched the Super Whites play against Oldham.

“Aidan asked how many seats there were at Prenton Park and how long it would take to sit in each of them,” explained dad Dave, who has been supporting Tranmere for 32 years.

“I estimated about nine hours and he asked if we could do it for charity and raise money for sick children.

“We decided to do it for Claire House as they’re a local hospice and they’re quite dear to our hearts anyway.”

Fuelled with sandwiches and plenty of water, the pair started their challenge at 7am on Thursday and with the support of other season ticket supporters - as well as family and friends - they were on target to complete it by tea time.

“Aidan is full of energy – he’s keeping me going. I think he’s probably sat in more seats than me to be honest,” said Dave.

“We’ve been practicing at home by doing squats – Aidan has been sitting up and down on the sofa but that’s only for five minutes, this is for hours.”

The pair were supported on the day by Aidan’s little brother, four-year-old Aaron, and mum Gill.
