A YOUNG football fan will show his love for his club while supporting his local children’s hospice by sitting in every seat at his team’s home ground.
Nine-year-old Aidan Turner, from Prenton, and his dad Dave will attempt to sit in every one of the 17,000 seats at Prenton Park - the home of their beloved Tranmere Rovers - on April 17.
The father and son team will take on the challenge in aid of Claire House Children’s Hospice, with all money raised supporting children and young people with life limiting medical conditions.
The pair’s light bulb moment came when watching the Mighty Whites play against Oldham, when Aidan was curious to know how many seats were in the stand.
Dave, who has been supporting Tranmere for 32 years, said: “It was all Aidan’s idea and when he said he wanted to do it for a local charity, we thought Claire House was the perfect choice.
“All the other season tickets supporters we sit near are getting involved in sponsoring us and we’ll be taking our sponsorship forms on the coach to away matches as well.”
Devonshire Park Primary School pupil Aidan said he is not too fazed by the challenge.
“Dad thinks it will take us nine hours, so we’re going to pack some sandwiches,” said the nine-year-old.
“We’ve been practising at home, sitting on the sofa and getting back up again. I’m not nervous – it’ll be fun.”
The pair will be supported on the day by Aidan’s little brother, four-year-old Aaron, and mum Gill.
Debbie Smith, Wirral area fundraiser for Claire House, said; “Aidan’s idea is a stroke of genius and a brilliant challenge for such a hard-core Tranmere fan.
“We’re delighted he’s chosen to support other children from the Wirral with his seat-sitting antics and can’t wait to cheer Aidan and Dave on on the day.”
