Survey shows Merseyside passengers give the thumbs-up to bus services

Wirral Globe: Survey shows Merseyside passengers give the thumbs-up to bus services Survey shows Merseyside passengers give the thumbs-up to bus services

A new survey by an independent consumer watchdog shows 89% of bus passengers in Merseyside are satisfied with the overall service.

Stagecoach’s services rated 92% and Arriva’s 86%.

The average across the area was 88% - up one per cent on last year’s review.

The results are published by Passenger Focus and are based on responses from more than 1,700 passengers who took part in the annual Bus Passenger Survey.

David Sidebottom, Passenger Focus acting chief executive, said: “These results are good news for bus passengers, operators and transport authorities in Merseyside.

“This improvement in bus passengers’ overall satisfaction demonstrates what can be done when bus operators and transport authorities use the survey results to identify improvements for their passengers.

“However, there is still room for improvement.

“The survey provides pointers for future action and our conversations with operators and authorities have helped identify what could be done to improve passenger satisfaction.”

34,000 people from 19 areas took part in the biggest single survey of bus passenger views to be published in England.

I wonder in which part of Wirral this survey was carried out. I have no recollection of anything like this being carried out in Wallasey.

Was this survey created by the same bunch that did the recent ones that Wirral Council used?

My wife recently sent me pictures she took on a Number 1 bus from Birkenhead to Chester, seats missing, well I lie the seats were there just not on their frames, one was in the luggage rack. I wrote and complained to the bus company eventually got an email back, I'd asked for reasons it came back full of excuses. It was only after replying and mentioning that the loose seats could potentially be used as a weapon against travellers or the driver by some of the area's low lives that my complaint was acknowledged as 'fair'... I'm delighted that I am fortunate enough to not have to rely on the local buses, I would add 88% of b***er all is still B***er all. I'd be intrigued to know how big the sample that partook was.

Ah I re-read the article 1,700 travellers surveyed. this cannot even be 1% of the region's Bus travellers!

I hear Wirral gets Londons old buses most of the time and the drivers deserve a medal for driving them. Well done drivers- you all work long shifts, to a tight schedule with hardly any breaks and you put up with so much abuse it is a wonder we have any buses on our roads
