PROFESSIONAL children’s poet and performer Ian Bland visited a Wirral primary school this week as part of the school’s reading work.
The poet visited Mersey Park Primary School on Friday to work with children from the foundation stage right up to Year 6.
During the day, he held an assembly and introduced the poems which soon had the children hooked.
Headteacher Margaret Thomas said: “There has been a big emphasis on reading for pleasure at Mersey Park Primary this year and part of that is the enjoyment of poetry.
“Older children join up regularly with their younger ‘reading buddy’ to share a book together and this week they shared poems together in the reading buddy session.”
