POLICE are investigating after a Wirral schoolgirl reported seeing a man acting “suspiciously” in Wallasey.

An 11-year-old girl raised concerns after seeing the man sitting in a car on Claremount Road at 9am on Friday.

The man did not approach the girl or speak to her but officers say they are taking the report “extremely seriously”.

Police attended the scene, carried out a search of the area and house-to-house enquiries but were unable to find any trace of the man or the car.

A series of “stranger danger” talks have been given to local schools by Police Community Support Officers following the incident.

Neighbourhood Inspector Pete Kolokotroni said: “We treat all reports of this nature extremely seriously and while the girl was uninjured and was not directly approached by the man, we will always fully investigate all such reports.

“It’s possible that this was completely innocent behaviour and I would ask anyone who was in the area at the time, who has any information about this incident to contact 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
