GLOBE readers are being invited to take part in this year's Sport Relief Mile, taking place in Birkenhead Park later this month.

Runners can choose whether they want to tackle one mile, three or six, and raise charity cash through sponsorship.

Councillor Chris Meaden, Wirral Council’s cabinet member for Health and Wellbeing, said: "This is the second time the Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Mile has come to Birkenhead so I hope lots of local people sign up, get training and show the rest of the country what we can do.

"There will be plenty of activities taking place in the park on the day too so even those who don’t want to put out their running shoes can still come down and support."

Birkenhead Park’s senior ranger Anne Litherland said: "Last time, the Birkenhead Mile attracted more than 450 runners and this year we want even more people to get involved to get that total even higher.

The event, sponsored by Sainsbury's, will held on Sunday, March 23.
