ONE of the world’s most respected writers of horror fiction is to appear at a Wirral library to celebrate the 50th anniversary of his first published work.

‘An Uncanny Evening with Ramsey Campbell’ will see the author discuss and take questions on his huge back catalogue, which includes dozens of horror novels and short stories, two of which have been filmed.

The Liverpool born author – who will visit Wallasey Central Library on March 27 - is one of the most celebrated horror writers of his generation and has received more awards for his work than any other author in the horror genre.

His work has even been praised by others writers including Stephen King and James Herbert and The Oxford Companion to English Literature describes Ramsey Campbell as ‘Britain’s most respected living horror writer’.

Councillor Chris Meaden, cabinet member for health and wellbeing said: “We can be proud in Merseyside to say we have one of the world’s most highly regarded writers, someone who has influenced so many other authors in his field.

"Ramsey Campbell is an extremely entertaining speaker, and I am sure this event will prove hugely worthwhile for fans and aspiring writers alike.”

The event takes place at Wallasey Central Library on Thursday, March 27, from 6pm to 7.30pm.

Tickets are free and available by visiting Wallasey Central Library or emailing wallaseycentrallibrary@wirral.gov.uk or calling 0151 639 2334.
